<p>I have been researching and studying food and how it interfaces with the human body for more years than I care to remember.</p>
<p>for as long as I can remember. Now I have learned that it has long been thought that vegetables are good for us, but I have never really knew why and some of these are just ordinary and some are simply superb. I have to say I think that vegetables get a raw deal (ha ha) no seriously, people opt for vitamin supplements when there are more effective elements in this great and important food group.</p>
<p>Mike Geary and his team of nutritionalists have now completed some interesting research in this area and they have come up with some surprising results &#8211; earlier generations will not be surprised at the findings but it would seem that no-one knew quite how good some of these foods really are for us.</p>
<p>It will come as a surprise to many people that though they may know that vegetables are good for us, some of them contain specific phytonutrients that help to eat away that awfully unpopular tummy fat.</p>
<p>Allow me to tell you exactly what they are and why.</p>
<p>Now it could be that you know about food, nutrition and what is good and what is bad, including the latest cutting edge research and development and how certain ingredients in the food supply is effecting us, like pesticides, food additives and other chemicals from petroleum based products in the home, such as household cleaners can act as xenoestrogens.</p>
<p>What are xenoestrogens (I can hear you say?), well they are chemicals which when exposed to your body can have an estrogenic effect and too much of this can result in hormone disruptions for human beings. So these can play tricks in our bodies.</p>
<p>I have never heard of xenoestrogens &#8211; what are they (I can almost hear you say), well these are chemicals that are exposed to you and your body that have this &#8216;estrogenic&#8217; effect and excessive exposure can result in hormone balance disruptions for both men and women and these can play all sorts of tricks on and in our bodies irrespective of whether you are a man or a woman.</p>
<p>Now you may not be a body builder, but can you imagine what would happen in your life if your stomach became so toned that you had a distinct six pack visible around your abdomen &#8211; and all you did for this was to eat certain vegetables?</p>
<p>So, that is it then &#8211; just another excuse to do what your Parents (and in particular your Mother) told you to do &#8211; eat broccoli and your other greens (I won&#8217;t tell you which ones here &#8211; you will need to read that yourself if you would really like to know).</p>
<p>This I learned by studying material which then had not yet been written down anywhere. It was a truly remarkable and healthy course that I have had to follow and after a short time I was putting what I had learned into practice.</p>
<p>I learned this by studying a course which at that time had not yet been published. It was one of the most amazing health courses that I have ever read and after just a few short weeks of putting the teachings into practice, I was able to see a distinct improvement in the shape of my abs. After 6 weeks of following what the course taught me, virtually all of my belly fat had just vanished.</p>
<p>It is true to say that I became a bit bored after a while but the course covered that and gave me some great suggestions on how to make these foods more interesting.</p>
<p>Now &#8211; when I am at the gym, you ought to see how people look at me &#8211; and I was already pretty trim and fit before &#8211; being a fitness trainer and being well known and all. Well the change in my body was remarkable and it made me grin from ear to ear (but of course that was just ego); all of this because I was asked to read through a course and put it to work for me.</p>

<p>Recent claims about the acai berry have been pretty amazing. While there is some scientific evidence that has been tested on this fruit, it has still been declared one of the greatest nutritional finds ever and it has been touted as a miracle cure for everything from obesity to cancer.</p>
<p>Well the acai berry is exceptionally nutritious but it is just the latest find in a long line of extremely healthy superfoods. Superfoods range from blueberries to spinach and oranges to green tea. The list of superfoods goes on and on and there are many, many extremely nutritious superfoods.</p>
<p>In order to have a healthy diet you must eat a variety of health promoting foods. Our bodies require a balance of nutrition in the form of the macronutrients of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats and the micronutrients of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Antioxidants protect our bodies from free radicals and oxygen damage that has a proven causal relationship in everything from aging to disease. When we increase the quality of what we eat we add to our health and longevity. But the addition of just one superfood like the acai berry cannot do this. We must have a variety of healthy foods.</p>
<p>If you are on a weight loss program you will benefit from the addition of acai berry products. However this alone will not help you to lose weight. You also need to start a consistent exercise program and eat fewer calories. You can get superior nutritional support from acai berry products but that alone will not help you. In addition you must also do other things if you need to lose weight.</p>
<p>We can find everything we need for outstanding nutrition in nature. Nature gives us a multitude of exceptionally healthy foods in the form of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. <p>The foods that we should avoid are the unnatural and manmade things. If your food will not deteriorate on its own within a certain amount of time it probably is not very nutritious to consume. If bacteria won&#8217;t consume the food then humans probably shouldn&#8217;t either! The acai berry starts to lose its nutritional content as soon as 24 hours after it is picked from the tree so it needs to be freeze-dried or frozen almost instantly.</p>
<p>The acai berry can be an incredible addition to your nutritious diet. It can help you with your weight loss efforts and it can assist in protecting your body from damage from free radicals and the oxygen damage caused from everyday living. This can help protect against diseases and other problems.</p>
<p>But the best way to achieve and maintain great health through diet is to make sure that you are adding in a variety of many healthy foods including blueberries, spinach, salmon, walnuts, broccoli, tomatoes, green tea and of course, the list goes on. Are you eating for emotional reasons or stress eating? If so, find positive outlets for your stress and emotions. Enjoying a nice soak in the tub, lighting incense, going for a walk with the dogs and or finding some time to meditate might be just what your thin self needs to slim down.</p>
<p>Quick Weight Loss Tip #2: Ask yourself some tough questions. Weight loss coaches are known for getting helping clients get to the source of what is really going on with their clients. Some questions you may want to examine include: What are your weight loss goals? Why do you want to achieve these goals?</p>
<p>When do you want to achieve them by? What is required step-by-step to attain my weight loss goals? What is one thing I can do this week to move closer to my quick weight loss goals? <p>Practically anyone who has ever thought about losing weight has wanted to know the secret to fast weight loss.  Everyone is looking for the magic diet pill, break through latest diet, or great exercise machine that will finally allow them to lose weight fast.  They jump from fad to fad, but ultimately find themselves gaining back all the weight they had lost and getting nowhere.</p>
<p>If you are still asking if there is one hidden secret for helping you to lose weight fast, no there is isn&#8217;t.  Stop looking because there are no secrets for you to find.  All there is for you to discover is a basic formula and a few principles and guidelines for you to follow that will allow you to lose weight fast.</p>
<p>The basic equation for losing weight is burn off more calories than you consume.  There is your secret if you still need one.  The equation is guideline for what you need to know to lose weight.  The equation is letting your know that lots of exercise and cutting calories is really what you need to concentrate on and what will be effective.</p>
<p>Eating 1200 calories on a daily basis is about as low as most doctors and weight loss experts will ever recommend.  Depriving your body or going into starvation mode is not only ineffective for trying to lose weight but is also potentially endangering your health.  In addition, you can&#8217;t just eat some miracle food like grapefruits or something else that a fad diet is promoting, instead you need a well balanced variety of healthy foods.</p>
<p>To lose weight fast, you should aim at eating about 1200 calories per day and doing about one hour of exercise every day.  This is about the maximum level of effort that your body can probably handle.  If you follow a program similar to this you can reasonably expect to lose somewhere around three to five pounds a week when your first start out and about three pounds after the first few weeks.</p>
<p>A more realistic and long term goal for weight loss is losing one to two pounds a week.  This can be accomplished through a combination of regular exercise that burns an extra 500 to 1000 calories a day and eating low calorie, healthy meals.  You should follow a plan similar to this for losing weight more slowly and also for maintaining your weight.</p>
<p>So here is what you need to do if you would like to lose a certain number of pounds by a certain date for say a wedding or summer vacation coming up.  First you need to calculate how much weight you would like to lose.  Next you need to determine how much time you have and come up with how many pounds you need to lose each day or week to figure out whether you can realistically do it or not.</p>
<p>So as you can see there really isn&#8217;t any big secret to fast weight loss.  The faster you want to lose weight, the more strenuous exercise and calorie cutting you will need to do.  However, you also need to realize that your body does have its limits and make sure that you don&#8217;t over do it or endanger your health.</p>

<p>Do you know what the best arm exercises for toning are? Ask a couple fitness buffs and you&#8217;ll get a different answer from each one. Could this get any more confusing?</p>
<p>How are you supposed to find the truth behind this question if the gurus can&#8217;t? This can be a hair-pulling ordeal.</p>
<p>Thus, I have decided to embark on a mission. A mission to review as many arm exercises for toning as I can. Hopefully, I can clear up some of the confusion</p>
<p>And you should also save some research time by reading what I have to say. So dumbbell curls will be on today&#8217;s menu:</p>
<p>1. General description. This is a great exercise for the biceps because it works this muscle group through its entire range of motion. An exercise that works a muscle through its entire range of motion will allow you to get more work done per unit of time. Note: the biceps is the first arm muscle someone will see when looking at you from the front.</p>
<p>2. Movement technique. Stand up with a dumbbell in each hand and palms facing the body. Keep your abs tight for lower back stability. Rotate one palm and bring the dumbbell up. Then slowly lower it. Repeat for the other side. </p>
<p>3. Common mistakes: Letting the shoulders round forward when bringing up the weight-very bad for your back. Raising the elbows when performing the upper portion of the movement. This takes stress off of the biceps and puts it on the front shoulders.</p>
<p>4. Conclusion. This is an excellent exercise that comes very close to being perfect. The only challenge is maintaining good form and posture when using heavier weights. And heavier weights are absolutely necessary for the fastest arm toning. </p>
<p>Every woman who is serious about getting toned arms should include dumbbell curls in her workout routine. You see, learning the best arm exercises for toning isn&#8217;t that confusing!</p>

<p>If it is about knocking 15 pounds of the scale then it does not matter if you lose, fat, water or muscle. If your objective is to get rid of that bulge in the middle, you need to shake 15 pounds of fat as fast as possible</p>
<p>If you are going to lose pounds or fat you need to know that it is important that loosing water is part of the process. During the first days of any diet water loss is at its highest. </p>
<p>There are countless sites on the internet that claim to be able to show you how to lose 15 pounds fast. What they don&#8217;t always tell you is that losing weight fast can be dangerous to your health. Of course, it all depends on what you consider &#8216;fast&#8217;. For some people, a month would be fast while others see it as something more immediately, like a few days or a week.</p>

<p>Often it feels as if there is a new rapid weight reduction product each week and just to add to the list is a product that promises to speed up an individual&#8217;s metabolism and suppress the hunger desire all at the same time. </p>
<p>To boot the makers even claim that wearing magnetic jewelry will trigger body&#8217;s normal healing capacity and is also a pain suppressor, but the claims, regrettably sound as if the product is a fashion accessory more than anything else. </p>
<p>According to the advertising information, wearing the magnets improves the magnetic balance of the wearer and they can anticipate to benefit from all the effects mentioned previously. </p>
<p>Yet, till date there has been no proof of these tall claims ever submitted to any medical journal other than a few competitive press releases. </p>
<p>In life, there is no gain, where there is no pain, and there is nothing truer than this saying when it concerns fast weight loss, as it is unavoidably followed swift weight gain also.</p>

Six weeks later, I went for another cholesterol check, because of the high fat levels in the diet and, although my cholesterol level was up very slightly, the doctor said there was absolutely no cause for concern.]]></description>

<p>The book warns that you might suffer from bad breath (halitosis). I don&#8217;t know whether I did or not &#8211; no-one mentioned it, but I started brushing my teeth four or five times a day just in case. I guess that&#8217;s another benefit of Atkins: increased awareness of oral hygiene. It also warns of constipation. I didn&#8217;t get that either, although I didn&#8217;t give up black coffee, which has always had a laxative effect on me. But how can you become constipated if you&#8217;re allowed to eat well over 1lb of greens a day? I wasn&#8217;t eating that well before the diet! So my two main concerns were unfounded.</p>
<p>After a couple of weeks I was getting bored not going out so much. Not with the diet, but because I&#8217;m single and am used to going to the pub (and drinking beer). So, I decided to treat this scientifically. One day, after work, I had three pints of Guinness and felt merry. Before the diet, I would have drunk five or six pints to feel the same. To my delight, the next morning the ketone stick told me that I was still &#8216;on the diet&#8217;. Over the following weeks, I really enjoyed finding out what would &#8216;work&#8217; and what would not. I discovered that cider had to be avoided at all costs; some beers and some lagers were all right; red and white wine were OK. Consuming alcohol does not knock you off the diet, but it slows down your rate of progress. However, even slow progress is progress, I say. Better than giving up the diet or giving up going out.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t listen to people who say &#8216;go on, just try a little bit&#8217;. They don&#8217;t understand or don&#8217;t want to understand how much they are setting you back. A body can hold two days worth of carbohydrates: one square of chocolate, one slice of bread, a bowl of cornflakes or one sugar in your coffee will cost you TWO days to clear out of your system. Just don&#8217;t let them do it to you. This is not a diet for stopping and starting whenever you you like. In fact I think that it probably could be dangerous to allow your ketone and other levels to fluctuate wildly. There are also high fat levels in the content of the Atkins diet, which is not dangerous if you stick to it, because you body consumes fat and cholesterol in the absence of carbohydrates.</p>
<p>The story ends at this pont, with me having got down to under 16 stone and keeping it there, until very recently when I moved to the Far East to live. Once I get used to the food and have my own house and own kitchen, I will get down to 15 stone, I&#8217;m sure I will &#8221; with very little effort.</p>

<p>Like the rest of us if your goal is to lose a substantial amount of body fat as fast as possible, you need an effective yet simple plan to follow.  I have put together 10 dynamite tips to help you achieve you fat loss goals.  </p>
<p>Your weight reflects your total calorie intake, the amount you exercise, and your metabolic rate, but the most important part of the equation by far is the composition of the food you eat.   Here are some tips. </p>
<p>Reduce your carbohydrates.   It is almost impossible to lose weight and keep it off without eating substantially fewer carbohydrates and particularly those high on the GIycemic index chart.   The more processed the carbohydrate the higher the GI.  White bread, cakes, candy, chocolate, biscuits, soda are all high GI.   And the bad news is that eating high GI carbohydrates stimulates that appetite for more of the same.  Eating a low-carbohydrate, low-GI diet will help you control your appetite and decrease cravings. </p>
<p>Now when we eat low GI foods like brown rice, wholemeal pasta, full grain breads your body can&#8217;t digest it quickly and the insulin response is delayed or even halted.  The sugars enter the bloodstream slowly and are consumed as energy.  Your energy levels stay constant, your blood levels of sugar stay steady and you don&#8217;t feel perpetually hungry and put on loads of weight as a result.  Try to keep your carbohydrate intake under one-sixth of your overall calories and increase the number of low GI foods you eat and eliminate the high GI foods.  Candy, cakes, biscuits, sugar in coffee and soda drinks are out.  </p>
<p>Reduce fats but don&#8217;t get too paranoid about this.  Although high-fat foods are more calorically dense &#8212; 9 calories per gram versus 4 for carbohydrates and protein there is no real science behind the desperate attempts to reduce fat consumption.  The more low fat foods we have introduced over the past decade, the fatter we have become!  Also be very wary of low fat foods which are often packed with salt and sugar to replace the flavor that fat imparts. </p>
<p>Eat vegetables. Really focus on foods that have low caloric density (that is, low in calories but high in weight). The ideal category: low-starch vegetables, which have a low GIycemic index and are rich in valuable nutrients of all kinds, high in fiber, and filling. </p>
<p>The more fiber the better.  Most people do not consume enough fiber in their diet.  Soluble fiber protects your heart and insoluble fiber protects your digestive tract.  Fiber makes you feel fuller sooner and reduces the tendency to overeat.  The recommended amount of fiber is 25 grams a day but in undeveloped countries people eat three and four times this amount and diseases such as bowel cancer are rare. Fiber is king.</p>
<p>Introduce your new diet and weight loss program steadily rather than rapidly.  You gained weight over a long time frame and you should aim to remove it steadily rather than dramatically.  Lose weight too fast and you end up with folds of skin everywhere like a Sha Pei dog, plus your energy levels will go through the floor.  Your metabolism will crash and you will certainly do yourself more harm than good.  The ideal is a long term sustainable lifestyle &#8220;sea change&#8221; which will bring you to your goals over a sensible time frame. </p>
<p>Your goal should be a healthy lifestyle and a new healthy you.  This means not just diet but also attitude. If you are going to lose weight, the gtoal is to attractive at the end of the process, not thin, unhealthy and unattractive.  Try for fresh, slim and attractiove with a real appreciation of yourself and your own value as a person.  We are looking for long term goals hers, not just the next six weeks. </p>
<p>Leave desperation at the door.  Losing weight might well be important to you, but you gained the weight slowly and you can&#8217;t expect to lose it quickly.  At the very least there is some work you have to do on yourself before this is all going to come together.  A new lifestyle with a better diet, good exercise habits and an improved attitude to yourself as a person will lead to weight loss.  It may even take a little longer, but this is for the rest of your life, not just tomorrow.  With htis new lifestyle you just won&#8217;t ever fall off the wagon and go backwards.</p>
<p>Your weight loss will vary week to week depending on the diet you are on and, if you are a women, on the time of the month.  Hormones play a part here. As you get further into your exercise program you will build up muscle which weighs more than fat.  You might be disappointed to find you only lost 2 pounds one week but also realize your waist measurement dropped two inches.  This is why it is important to take a long term view.  You are travelling in the right direction.  Stick with the program and you will arrive at your destination.           </p>
<p>Eat.  Starvation diets don&#8217;t work.  When we starve ourselves our survival mechanisms kick in the the stressor known as starvation makes the body go into self-preservation mode.  Your body then stores every calorie it sees and you become lethargic as your metabolism slows down and weight loss becomes impossible.  Food is your friend; just make sure it&#8217;s the right kind of food.</p>
<p>Eat breakfast. And a good breakfast at that.  If you start the day with a good substantial breakfast containing whole grains, proteins and fats like porridge, whole wheat bread, even bacon (drained after cooking) and eggs, you won&#8217;t feel hungry until lunch.  No breakfast sets you up for the munchies at morning tea and I guarantee you will eat junk and you will gain weight.  Don&#8217;t get hung up on cholesterol in eggs by the way.  There is no good science is saying eggs raise your cholesterol levels.  This is looking more and more like another food myth.</p>
<p>Any effective weight loss program must include a good exercise program.  Without exercise you are doomed to failure.  Exercise both tones the body and burns the fat, plus it helps moderate the appetite.  Fit people eat less than fat people because their physiology is changed by exercise.  They stay slim because they exercise, not just because of a few calories they burn.  I also like a program that includes a meal planner because it removes so much guess work from preparing healthy meals.  </p>
<p>The main thing is to find a good program and stick to it.  The rewards go beyond just getting thin.  You will have more self confidence, feel better in yourself, your sex life will improve (guaranteed) and you will gain both self respect and the admiration of others.  And what price can you put on that?</p>

<p>Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle author Tom Venuto is going to be popular around here at Your Health Reporter! I just bought the book and already I can tell you that Tom Venuto is rather impressive and receives a big nod from me and definitely KNOWS what he is talking about!</p>
<p>A natural, competitive body builder in rock hard shape, Tom has a remarkable 3.7% body fat. He has been in many competitions and has won championships. He has been featured in highly recognized fitness magazines like IRONMAN and Mens Fitness. He is wonderfully fit and a professional at it, but that is not why I am putting him at the top of my list!</p>
