Simple Ways To Save Money

Posted by: Laura Hill  /  Category: Finance

In the not too distant past, families went on vacations every year. With the economy the way it is nowadays, the family vacation has become a novelty. It takes so much for a family to scrape together enough money to take even a small vacation.

If you are practical with your money flow, you could save a little bit each month so that by the end of the year you could have enough for a vacation. It is assumed that everyone has a method of saving their money for emergencies and such but if that is not the case, the following are few tried and true ways to fill up that piggy bank.

If you stop doing one of your favorite pastimes, such as going to the theater, you will save money. It is not easy to cut out one of your favorite things to do. Things like stopping going to the theater doesn’t stop you from watching movies. You just need to find a cheaper alternative such as watching what is on television.

If you record the movies you find on the television, you can wait to watch them later. That way it feels as though you are watching a new movie on the weekend.

Get yourself a large jar that you can put your loose change into every day or every week. That might sound rather silly, but after a long time you will notice the jar is filled with, possibly, hundreds of dollars.

If you’ve ever noticed that you have a load of stuff that you don’t use or need, you should have a rummage sale. It’s a wonderful way to make some money and absolutely no reason to be embarrassed about it.

If your vacation desires are to travel during the summer break, it is a good idea to start packing away the money well in advance, as the summer time is the most expensive time for a vacation.

Your family will thank you in the long run for all the sacrifices you’ve had throughout the year. Once they see that they did not need those trivial things but a vacation is a family memory forever, yours will be the happiest family on the block.

Mini Bikes For Kids Are A Growing Sport

Posted by: Chris Frost  /  Category: Cars and Trucks

When we used to talk about mini bikes for kids, we were talking about a small scale frame with a lawn mower type engine on it. They typically ran at the 3. 5 hp range and sported motors that you saw on the family lawn mower. The mini bikes were very basic and usually had no gears, just a centrifugal clutch to get the little machine rolling.

The mini bikes for kids today come in a huge variety of shapes and styles with different types of power sources to move the little machine. We will take a look at some of the variety that you can get in a mini bike today.

We will start with the Super street bikes. These are a scaled down imitation of what we call the Japanese “crotch rockets” we see breaking the speed limit every day, if not wheeling by us in traffic. These can also be turned into “Super Pocket Rockets” that we will talk about later.

There are Chopper mini bikes that are (you guessed it) just scaled down models of the custom street cruiser bikes we see on the road every day. These are the fastest growing facet of the mini bike industry today. You can customize these bikes in many different ways, just like the full size bikes.

A distant cousin of the old fashioned mini bike is the mini dirt bike. They are just what they say. These mini bikes are designed to be ridden on the dirt in areas that are meant for this such as off road parks and tracks. The difference from the old dirt mini bike is that a lot of these look like mini motocross bikes. There are some that come with a retro feel and look like the mini bikes of old, but they have more modern features like good breaks.

If you want or have competitive blood in the family, then the Super pocket rocket is the style of mini bike you want. These are again, scaled down versions of the Japanese crotch rocket type bikes and are built to go fast and they do! The suspensions and frames are built to do nothing but go fast.

You can find all these styles of mini bikes with an electric motor to power them. These are much quieter and safer for the smaller kids in the family.

You should always think safety first when you put your child on one of these. Your child should always wear a helmet and any other safety gear that will keep your kid safe.

Remembering Several Discontinued Candies

Posted by: Andrew Lyle  /  Category: Business

Think back to your childhood and think about some of your favorite candies. While many of them have evolved and some even remain the same, there are those candies that you can no longer find in stores.

They used to be mainstays in candy stores, pharmacies, and grocery stores, but they seem to be gone and out of reach these days. Let’s take a look at some of the more enjoyable candies from the past that no longer seem to exist.

Bonkers were huge in the mid ’80s. Their commercials were everywhere on TV, and kids loved these candies. Chewy, fruity, and somewhat creamy all at once, these were a lot of fun to eat.

There were a bunch of great flavors. Some of the better ones that I remember are strawberry, watermelon, and chocolate, which came out near the end of the candy’s heyday. Shortly after chocolate came out, Bonkers performed a vanishing act.

Do you remember the juice flavored bubble gum? These came in miniature sized boxes of juice, and they were based around different flavors of actual juice.

They were little pebble shaped drops of gum, and they were absolutely delicious. This was some of the best gum I’ve ever chewed. Again, it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen these.

Mars bars. These were a really big one not too long ago, but they no longer exist. Where are they? The Mars company is still around, so where did these go?

The Mars bar still exists, only they call it Snickers almond. There wasn’t much of an announcement made when this happened, but you’ll notice that the ingredients are the same should you happen to try one.

This all brings back memories, doesn’t it? Any others that you can think of?
